Smaller bladed billhook traditionally used to split hazel thatching spars, however it is well liked simply as a smaller and lighter weight billhook for harvesting and working-up smaller coppice material.
The nose is blunted so more likley to survive if you hit a stone.
Like all Morris billhooks the cutting bevels are long without shoulders and ground to about 20 degrees.
The tang runs the full length of the handle. The blade is approx 175mm (7") long. Total length approx 315mm (12 1/2").
The caulked oval handle, made of varnished ash, is 140mm (5 1/2") long,
Tool making has been an industry at the Morris Dunsford works for more than 100 years and in our opinion Morris Billhooks are far better than anything else on the market, despite the need for grinding and sharpening. This tool may come with small manufacturing flats and burrs on the edge.
