New and unused auger bits to fit older style braces with either two or four jaws
Made in Sheffield, UK by Clico. (sadly Clico closed in 2014)
These have square tapered shanks that will fit securely into older style brace chucks that have either two or four jaws.
These bits are becoming increasingly difficult to get of hold of new and may not be available much longer.
Jennings Pattern auger bits were made using a different technique to Solid Centre Auger Bits and were generally favoured by furniture makers to produce more accurate holes.
A fine thread lead screw makes starting easier and two cutting wings incise the wood without tearing.
Available in the following sizes:

Jennings Pattern auger bits are accurately made and work efficiently to produce nice holes but as they are hand-made exactness does vary, they may be slightly oversize/undersize.
They may not be totally compatable if you use them in conjuction with Ashem Crafts Rounding Planes or the Ray Iles wooden bodied rounders.
If you make tenons to fit the drilled holes via a pole lathe or shavehorse they will be perfect.
Telephone if you are not certain.
To keep your auger bits in good condition have a look at our durable, 7 compartment Leather Tool Roll.
