We are very pleased to have recently added a selection of carving gouges from Swedish Tool makers Hans Karlsson Klensmide AB. They are probably some of the best designed, made and finished tools anywhere.
The gouges listed here have a significant role to play in green wood working and traditional woodland craft.
Sometimes the same gouge can be used for a variety of tasks such as roughing-out on a pole lathe and spoon and bowl carving. At a roundwood timber framing course I joined a few years ago they were very useful where the roundwood merged into the tenon. A doubley curved adze would also have been useful.
If you would like to learn more about carving wooden bowls we run 2 day Bowl Workshop Courses every spring held at our workshop within the grounds of Beamish Museum, Co.Durham. Follow the link and e-mail for a booking form.
